Availability of PCIe cards?

Okay. So, I've decided to wait for the advent of PCIe and everything that comes with it.

However, I've noticed that the availability of any video cards (either of the ATi or nVidia flavor) is somewhat scarce at the moment. Now, the latest motherboard iterations utilizing PCIe are just over the horizon and will be on shelves shortly, but the video cards intended for them are kinda few and far between.

Does anyone have any insight as to when these cards will be in more plentiful supply? The question basically boils down to: what good are the nForce4, K8T890 or ATi RX480 chipset-based motherboards if there are not enough video cards to go around? I'm all in favor of going the PCI Express route, but having everything sitting on my desk, save the video card, isn't of much use without a new viddy card. Am I missing something? Did I not read all the fine print, so to speak?

Thank ya!!

There seem to be plenty of low/mid range PCI-E cards around such as the X600/X700 & 6600 series so I wouldn't let that stop me from buying a new mobo.

In fact, Newegg appears to have all variety of PCI-E cards in stock, from the low end to the high end.
