hey, i've heard a lot of praise for both of these boards, but...

is there anything that makes one of them better than the other?

The A8V offers a Promise Raid controller which adds support for 2 more SATA and 1 additional IDE, plus just about every A8V now comes with a Bios (1007) that allows you to run a Winchester.

AV8's need to be flashed right out of the box to support a Winchester
