AV8 3rd eye MB with Seagate SATA II doesn't work?

G'day,

I'm trying hard to get a new Seagate SATA II 320gb 16mb cache working, so far to no avail.
I have tested the hard drive on another computer with a different motherboard and it gets detected with no problems.

The problem is that my Abit AV8 3rd eye won't detect it at all. I previously had two SATAs running in RAID, a 120gb Seagate and a 200gb WD. This worked fine. I initially replace the 120 Seagate with the new one, which resulted in both not working.

I tried disabling RAID and running the 320 on its own... but nothing. The hard drive is not detected by the BIOS at all. I also flashed the BIOS to the latest version, which had no effect. The computer doesn't detect any trace of the 320 HDD anywhere, but the hard drive itself does recieve power and spins.

Replacing the two older SATAs everything works fine too.

Some help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Boris

It does, I'll try it out.

But I do have two WD 320gb IDEs hooked up too. Would it just not support 320gb SATAs?

Thanks mate, working now!

I initially overlooked the jumper setting because I dismissed it as limiting the drive's capacity.
