Oh and if anyone needs a speaker company to close shop, let me know and I'll buy from them.

I bought some stuff from The Speaker Company and 3 months later they closed down.

Bought some X-series stuff and an MFW and they shut down 6 months later.

I just recently bought some cheap in-ceiling speakers from Monoprice...hopefully I'm not 3 for 3. :O

Please buy something from Bose 🙂

Hmm - I'll have to be careful not to overtax my Rockets. Hopefully I'll be able to identify a source of sonically-compatible replacement drivers if that ever happens.

Folks

Just wanted to share a little info for future reference, but I hope none of you need it really.

I was talking with Hugh last night and he can get drivers for most if not all of the rocket speakers. I asked him if since I was already doing all the sub kits and as a onix/melody dealer if he wanted me to be the single point of contact for any replacement drivers and he said yes. So if you need any replacement drivers for any av123 rockets or onix speakers I should be able to get them for you. I am not sure about any of the X series products, but I think I should be able to get those as well. You can contact me at support@motorcitycustomaudio.com

 Thank you.

The company will probably not survive this. It has been showing signs in the last 2 years that it was struggling. Lots of product lines being discontinued with no replacements, lots of announced products being put on hold, troubles with line/parts sourcing, throw in the economic downturn and now this....

I called it back in March....

it seems like anything this Mark Schifter guy touched have turned to sh*t, remember Audio Alchemy, Perpetual Technologies? I think there is a lesson here...

 Thank you.

No prob man. If you follow that forum link they have a classifieds section that has a LOT of av123 stuff for sale...and people looking for their stuff.

I'm sitting on a couple X-CS encore speakers, an x-voce, a set of X-statiks and an MFW. I'm fairly invested in this whole ordeal. Thankfully they were all open stock/2nd hand so I paid about as much for the whole package as I would for a "retail" price of X-Statiks alone.

The mfw, voce & x-cs pair will go in the theatre room while the statiks go to 2 channel duty in my den. Hopefully between them I'll be able to cannabalize the X-CS for parts if needed (same tweeter & woofers as the voce & statik). The amp in the MFW is the most concerning. Guess I'll go Seaton turbo in that event.

They don't call him shifty for nothing!

I've been following the forums over at Tweak City Audio too, at least one of the places the info vi edit quoted was posted. It looks like many of the subs will be supported for at least some time as well. Even with all the bad fallout of from this there still remains a good group of individuals willing to pick up slack.

I also get the feeling TCA may fill the budget VOID it was presumed AV123 offered.

Thanks a lot, vi_edit! I actually entertained buying an MFW-15 with my Rockets but I refrained since I'm still happy with my Hsu STF-3. I hope yours lives a long and healthy life!

More things to chew on for those interested:

Basically Danny (crossover guy behind many AV123 designs) is working with the cabinet group in Cali who did all of the builing to buy up and sell off all of the leftover cabinets, drivers, crossovers, ect that are available. The Cali factory is where the X-series stuff was built and the later runs of the LS6/9's. Danny will be selling the speaker kits with completed crossover networks at fairly reasonable prices.

I say fairly reasonable because some of the kit prices will priced at what a completed speaker was worth if you bought it B-stock/closeout from AV123 at certain times. If you are fairly handy or want a specific type of veneer then it's a decent deal. For $375 the X-statik kit is intriguing. Same with the X-voce. But the issue is that you can buy a completed pair 2nd hand for $500. If you can find them 2nd hand.

If for nothing else, you can buy some spare parts for your x-series stuff through this deal with Danny.

I received my official "Victim Impact Statement" forms in e-mail today from the Colorado Office of the Attorney General Special Prosecutions Unit for being one of the contributors to the AV123 charity raffles 😛

I received a letter from the Bankruptcy attorney a while back as I had a pre-order on a subwoofer... I don't expect to see any of that money and am pretty much writing it off at this point.
