AV-Comparatives: Performance Tests May 2015

You have been warned about these before. I wouldn't risk getting the mods in on this again. Threads like this only get members yelling about why a certain product doesn't make the list.

If people have questions about AV, they are not afraid to create their own thread about it. You have linked to this site enough for everyone to know where to look.

{insert tired "MSSE is suck" proclamation and pimping of lame paid for AV}

I didn't mention anything sucks, all I did was post the latest AV Comparatives performance results. Give me a break people

There's been a lot of debate about how much does an AV slow down your computer.
http://betanews.com/2015/07/03/how-much-does-security-software-slow-down-your-pc/

From AV-Comparatives latest results, page 10, the top five with the least effect on system performance were; Avast with an impact score of 4.1, Emsisoft 4.2, Avira 7.6, Kaspersky Lab 9.3 and AVG 12.5.

yeah after seeing those tests, I went ahead and bought a 4 year license for avast! Pro Antivirus, very happy with how light it is

Just as well, I'm sure you'll enjoy all the benefits along with most of the drawbacks too.

Second with the most false alarms...!?

Cheers!!!

To my surprise, I've had no false alarms at all and I usually do get a lot of FPs with Bitdefender or Emsisoft Anti-Malware.

The only reason I went for the paid version is to get rid of the occasional notifications on the side prompting me to install this or that. I cannot live with that so I bought a 3 year license with a discount.

The trick is to not buy the license from their website but rather, install the free version, and through its GUI choose to upgrade to the Pro version then you get like a 40% discount 🙂

Avast has one of the biggest false alarm rates of AVs out there, I quit using AV a few years ago (AVG) and just stick with Windows Defender since I don't surf unfamiliar sites or download junk.

Actually quite wrong,Panda and AVG have had higher false detection(I have had three false from Panda and two from AVG,Avast I've had 0),so personally never had a false one with Avast and I've been using it for many years, for the record I've used Panda,AVG,bitdefender free versions as well on my other PCs.

considering assumed-safe sites can get hijacked i dont think thats a good idea

i have paid for bitdfender at home, but i also browse pretty safely

we use kaspersky endpoint at work and its great. sometimes the console is needs some extra research to fine tune but its a very good system overall
