rtfm? If you mean "Read the fvcking manual" that doesn't help, b/c the manual says nothing. :)

I'm just curious what sorts of devices use it.

The only time I've ever seen the AUX power connector used is on RAMBUS motherboards. OH, and I think I've seen it on a server board we have here at the place I work. It's pretty much useless these days, but I think it's required to be compliant with the ATX specification.

Pretty much every P4 motherboard needs it and many of the Amd boards are now using it.

He's not talking about the 4 pin P4 power connector,he's talking about the flat one that looks like half of an old AT power connection.


Those are rarely used on desktop board mostly dual cpu boards & servers use it.

I have an old Dell XPS-R (Dec. 1998) that uses it. Other than that, I've never seen another machine that needed one

Asus A7M266-D has a fitting for it. Bigger picture: coil it neatly and stow it out of your way :)

it kinda looks like the plug on the 1.0 xbox. when i sleeved my psu i just cut it off seeing no viable use for it.

it gives the mobo more consistent power for 3.3volts and 5volts. 2, 2, and 2 ground wires
