Holy shit these things are good. Never heard of them til last week when I saw them at aldi. I almost didn't get them cause there's a lot of apples I don't like, and I wasn't sure I wanted to risk it. Glad I got them, and I'm going back this weekend to see if they have more.

I'm not good at identifying abstract flavors, but what I think I'm getting is caramel, cherry, and almond with an alcoholic finish. The flesh is a light amber, kind of like squash, and it has a crisp bite. *HIGHLY* recommended if you see them somewhere. It's a fairly new cultivar, and a little spendy, but I've never had an apple with a flavor as unique as these.

Pacific Rose apples are another very good "limited availability" cultivar. The ones I've seen over the past several years are imported from New Zealand. Not sure if any are available US grown or not.
