Here is my problem, in my uncle's ford van 1995 econoline engine light is on. So we took it to local autozone. At 6pm guy was falling asleeping at the counter. He told me to go outside look for guy in red shirt. I go look and dude is busy talking to his ricer friends and their cars parked outside, he is like i have no clue about engines. Than I see old guy that looks either he is high or drunk under a tree smoking. I asked if he knows how to do it, he tells me to come back after 730. Than all of sudden some young kid pops out from the car, he is like i work here tommorow and check engline thing doesnt work on cars below 1996. Alright so I come back 730 that tree guy tells me to look for Dominique outside, at that point I told him I am not dog to search for people outside. Than he screams loud Dominique come out the bathroom go do check engine light thing, that guy screams from the bathroom tell him to come back tommorow. Than he finally comes out with scanner and has no idea where to plug it in, says I told you its 1995 it has to be 1996 and above. I have no idea if its truth or he lied to make me leave.

If it was an OBDII scanner I think it is 96 and above. I could be wrong though.

I would have walked out of there right away if they treated me like that.

Your van is a peice of crap. Maybe if you didn't keep a peice of crap van you could afford to go on cruises in Europe.

I usually buy car parts from little tiny store that has better prices than retail chains. Only reason I went to autozone is to get engine checked cause diagnostic fee around here are $80. I usually shops for accesories from strauss auto and pep boys. I am not gonna visit auto zone in near future for sure.

I'm sure they'll be quite hurt by not having to do stuff for you for free when you don't even buy anything from them.

Actually if you pause to think about it instead of spouting off like an idiot, they will be hurt by it. IF they had treated him properly and done an excellent job, he might have brought his business to them instead of the other shops. Instead they've alienated him now and he's telling all his friends/family about his experience and they'll be reluctant to shop at autozone now. Basic Economics 101 kid.

Good, stick it to 'em. Get them all fired for being jerks. Luckily, the autozone by me is really great.

Nope, I have my own scanners. I don't rely on inexperienced part selling auto mechanic wannabe's to diagnosis the problems on my vehicles.

Asking AutoZone to tell you what is wrong with your vehicle is like asking Bill Clinton what it is like to be faithful to his wife.

I think Sears used to sell one around 30-40 dollars. It is just a code reader, but that would at least give you a start.

That lesson only applies if they have much of a stake in the companies well being... so long as the place does enough business to stay open, the employees may not really care if they have to go out of their way or something.. It's really sad for the owner of that location... But, my local autozone is incredible... guys are always willing to go the extra mile for you...

Perhaps you should contact the FCC and/or the BBB.
