Ok, this is a dumb question, but:

How do I turn off autorun in Windows 2000? There is no option for it in the control panel that I can find.

Thanks,

Jason

If it is in the control panel, it would be under the system, device manager -> cdrom (or win2k equivalents)

:) That is my point, the option isn't there.

This *feature* is driving me nuts...

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Jason

Do a search in the registry for autorun and change it from 1 to 0. I'm in Win98SE now or I'd tell you where it's at.

Also, if you hold down one of the "shift" keys while inserting a CD it will not autorun.

go and get tweak ui for windows 2000 and you can turn if off there or just hold down the shift key when you put in a cd rom and it will not auto run:D

Silly me, I didn't know they had released a TweakUI for Windows 2000.

Got it... :)

Thanks,

I think you can also uncheck auto-insertion notification in device manager under cdrom but I may be wrong.
