Autorun, run off?

A few days ago I noticed that the auto-run feature of both my drives was not in the list when i right-clicked on them, and when i put in a CD nothing would happen either. Is there some setting I might have changed by accident somewhere? (win XP Pro SP1)

Go to My Computer, highlight the drive in question, then right click on it - select PROPERTIEs and check the AUTOPLAY tab contents. The default is "ON" - and most people work hard to get it NOT to happen - it is a royal pain when you leave a music CD in the drive.

the autoplay options on both drives are all set to 'prompt me every time to choose an action'

I don't particularly want it on, i just want the option, and want to find out what the hell is wrong with it
