automobile's 12 best sport sedan under 30K

1 - Acura TSX
2- BMW 325
3- G35
4- Lancer Evo
5- Mazda 6 (V6)
6- WRX (non STi)
7- IS300
8- A4 1.8T Quattro
9- Saab 9-3 Linear
10- MB C230K
11- Grand Prix GTP
12- Maxima SE :Q

Oh my...never thought the Maxima would be ranked dead last.
Lots of people bashed the TSX in this forum. I have yet to see a review that doesn't like that car. More HP != better car. Hopefully Nissan will take note in the future.

Under 30k, the 325 doesn't come that well equipped. Not sure if that was their issue with the G35 too, I remember reading they didn't dig the interior quality too much, that the Acura was silky smooth inside. Remember guys, this isn't a "best car" comparison, it's a "best car for the money" comparo. And I agree that, especially with luxury cars, that you'll want lots of goodies.

I woulda put the G35 first though, with that in mind

My thoughts exactly. The fact that its FWD should be reason enough to drop it to mid-pack.

Maybe serious drivers care and can tell the difference. I am sure no one who bought any of those 3 cars is gonna complain.

My opinion can be found here: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=245005

The positions are determined by which one has a better overall package as a sports sedan, and the TSX is where it's at. Honda makes cars that do well in every category, they might not be the very best, but they are certainly close to it. The TSX has great handling, decent acceleration, an a nice interior. Sure everyone knocks on it for being "just an Accord", but I don't think most people have realized how refined the Accord platform has become. Not to mention the interior is gorgeous - better that the majority of the cars on the list, and the TSX's navigation system is probably one of the best in the industry.

Yea, it might not be able to go from 0-60 in 5.6 seconds, but that's not what this comparison is about.

You won't get close to 0-60 in 5.6 in a 3-series either 😉

TSX rocks. Glad to see a magazine finally noticed.

Go and drive one before you bash. High revs and very crisp handling; plus it looks awesome (even better than the new copycat TL).

It looks like a European Honda Accord with an Acura badge and a higher price tag...oh wait, it is 😛

Nothing at all. Just paying more for the Acura badge...

Anyway, I still don't see what this thing offers over a $29,000 Infiniti G35 6-speed with Sport Package & Leather. It definitely isn't looks, speed or handling.

🙂 Yeah, you can scream VTEC if you have a G35😉

Give me V6 power and torque over a high-strung I-4 anyday

I agree with the speed, but their looks and handling are pretty much on par IMHO. Honestly, for me, the TSX and the G35 are both at the top for me. I think both are incredibly package, but I would probably go with the TSX if I was in the market to buy one. At the same price at the 6-speed G35 ($30,395 on their online configurator with no options), I could get a 6-speed TSX with an incredible navigation system (7-inch LCD :Q ), metal trim kit, spoiler, splash guards, and a moonroof visor.

I have driven the TSX, and the 200hp engine is more than capable for my needs. It's by all means not slow, but it's certainly not as fast at the G35. If performance is #1 on your needs list, the g35 would suit you better, but I'd rather have gadgets, incredible build quality, and some add-ons in a good performing vehicle.

You also get a lot more from a dealership by owning an Acura over a Honda - I have owned an Acura and a Honda recently to know the difference.

I can't say I really like any of the cars in those categories beisdes the TSX. I may be in this market soon... hrmm🙁

Given that it's a Honda/Acura, you won't have to go to the dealer much anyway😉

This list is a bunch of crap.
Look at the cars on that list.
Family Sedans/Luxury Sedans/Sport Sedans
Maxima dead last? Give me a break .. this list is crap.

325/G35/Maxima/A4/ > TSX

TSX is nothing but a damn Honda with an Acura badge. The car is a waste of money IMO. The interior does not even scream luxury sedan. How is this a luxury sedan? Having leather does not = Luxury. Corollas come with Leather. The engine is weak on the TSX.

Puhleeze - you = close minded fanboy.

With your logic, the G35 is nothing more than a Nissan with a damned luxury badge too
rolleye.gif
Hell, you coudl even venture to say that the Audi is nothing more than a glossed up VW
rolleye.gif

It's obvious that you've never even driven the car, let alone seen it in person.

The BMW 325 and the A4's engines have less HP than the Acura's, even though it has two extra cylinders and cost more.
rolleye.gif
Have you even driven the new Maxima?!!? It's got the suspension of a boat, it's handling doens't even touch the TSX's. Want the Audi? - enjoy your cloth seats and unreliability! Hell, get the BMW and anjoy your vinyl seats. Not to mention that you can get a better optioned TSX than every other car on that list - how's that for crap, nimrod?!!?

Remember, this review is for models UNDER 30k, and if you don't rank that TSX at the top of the list, you need to put your crack pipe down.
