Automobile/tire/wheel Question

I drive one ghetto ass car.

I have 2 different wheels on the front and 2 matching wheels on the rear.

The right front wheel hangs out from the body of the car a lot more than the left front wheel.

I am starting to feel like the tires are wearing unevenly- and the car is jerking to the left- I could be wrong but thats how it felt yesterday. The wheels have been like this(with new tires too) for about 4k miles.

I'm wondering if having miss-matched wheels can do this.

Thanks

In a simple word, Yes. Any difference in the front-end geometry will cause alignment concerns. This would be the same as having one tire with different tire pressure than the other. It also can be caused by worn suspension components, but as a alignment mechanic the tires would be my first guess.

Oh, I forgot to ask. PICS??? 😀

The front wheels are definitely wack. Wheels and tires on the same axle need to have matching specs!

I've had 2 shops install mis matching wheels on the same axle and they never said a damn thing about it causing problems.

wtf is their problem? ASE certified shops with good reputations and they didn't say anything.

I respect Roger's opinion more than anyone's his posts always seem well thought out and educated. So if you could lmk what you think about all this go ahead and post it.

BTW.. sorry no pics... I've got no digicam. And beyond that I'm at least a little bit ashamed of the car so I don't believe I would post them anyways. hahaha

Well then next time, don't ask.

Hrmmm-- you've talked me into it... I'll borrow a camera in a few days from a friend and post the pics somewhere. Then I'll resurrect the thread with links. I'll do it so that everyone can point and laugh.

I won't laugh, I in the past have owned some beaters that the junk yard would not take, one of them was a early eighties Mazda B2000 pick up that literally rusted in half, I had to have it towed from the side of the road on a flat bed, the only thing holding it together were the drive shaft, brake and gas lines.

Rofl... man that is so sweet. I bet you felt quite the shizzle when you cruised the strip in that honey-catcher.

I'm a little too old to be cruising the strip 😉
