I'm in the process of replacing my a/c in my 91' Blazer. I'm getting ready to purchase the parts but have a question about the orifice tube. There is basically two I can get. A #4 one or a $26 one which is an automatic adjusting tube. I don't know which I should purcahse. I'm leaning towards the cheaper one but I have heard the automatic one will lower the temperture a few more degrees then the other one. Is this correct?
 
The auto adjustabe orifice tube will help your a/c stay somewhat cooler at idle/lower rpm. A peice of advice: Once you crack open your A/C system you MUST competely evacuate the system, flush and do a negative pressure pump down for about 30-40 mins to remove moisture.. ANY amount of moisture in the system is very bad. Do this on a dry day.Replace the drier. This will help with any moisture that you can not get out of the system. Just get it as dry as you can before you put it back together, or you will have to buy a new dryer and start all over. You might try here. also if you need more help. A set of are these are nice to have, too.
 
On Tuesday, a friend at a shop is going to empty and flush the system for me so I can replace parts and convert the system over. Their only charging me about $50 to empty the system and fill it as long as I do the labor my self. I plan on replacing the compressor since it's shot as well as the accumulator and all the o-rings so I can have a/c again.

Anyone know of a place where I can purchase the o-rings and oil for them?? Can I get these at Autozone or something? I don't know if my friend will supply these for me. I want to make sure I have everything.
 
A freind at shop is a good thing to have. $50 is a good price. He probably has a recovery machine that will do the pump down and all that. You can get the oil and refigerant a Wal-mart or AutoZone Ect. I have always had a hard time with o-rings. Sometimes you have to "hunt down" the right ones. You might get lucky and find a kit.
