Automatically Quit VMWare Fusion on Windows Shut Down?

Due to performance issues (machine freezes), I switched from Parallels to VMWare Fusion (which did resolve the performance issues). In Parallels, when I shut down Windows, Parallels would automatically quit. I cannot seem to duplicate that behavior in Fusion.

Does anyone know how to get Fusion to do this?

Why shut down Windows? I just quit Fusion and it suspends the running VM(s).

I have found suspended instances of Windows XP become unstable.

I rather shut it down than suspend.

never had a problem w/ a suspended VM.

But the real question is why do you need to quit the Fusion app? It uses negligible memory when no VMs are running.

Because it is for my mom and no matter how many times I explained to her that she doesn't have to quit apps once she's done using them she continues to want to do so.

Perhaps you could just auto-hide the dock and then she wouldn't notice it was still running? Teach her command+space and she'll never need the dock again.

Never had that problem, but then I haven't used XP in years.

Change the General Prefs to Power Off Virtual Machine rather than Suspend.

Have her quit Fusion rather than shut down Windows. Fusion will shut down Windows and quit.
