how do i get my laptop to turn on, or resume from standby/hibernate when it gets plugged in to the power outlet. its easy to get it to turn off when it gets unplugged, but does anyone know how to do the reverse?
I don't believe there is a such way to do this unless there is some advanced features included on the BIOS. I highly doubt it tho, you'll have to turn it on by hand, sorry.

The only thing I've seen like that is some laptops resume from Standby when you open the lid. HP dv1000 does I know....
That's true - provided you select that option in BIOS, i.e., when close lid puts it into standby - then open wakes it up. Many laptops do that. I usually set mine to do nothing. 🙂
BTW - I have a new dv1000 arriving Tuesday. I shopped for several weeks and it won. 🙂
