Automatic Overclock setting

Haven't built a computer in years and noticed this setting in the bios of my sisters Biostar TA780g M2+ board. There are three performance levels, v6, v8, v12 Was thinking of clocking her 5050e. Anyone use these or is manual better?
 
manual overclocking is ALWAYS better.

Also, do you think it is wise to overclock someone else's computer? Do they want it to be overclocked?
