Automatic AOL 6.0

I have a friend who is having a real problem with AOL starting automatically everytime he starts his computer. I've made numerous, logical suggestions to correct this problem but it keeps on happening. One thing I told him to do was uninstall AOL and then reinstall it making sure that any automatic startup boxes are unchecked. I also had him look at the registry to delete any references to AOL. The problem persists. It's almost like there's a hidden file somewhere on the system. Any suggestions?:disgust:

Assuming that AOL hasn't somehow ended up in the startup menu, delete the AOL system tray icon. Alternatively, right-click on it and disable auto-start/prompt to start when a network connection is detected (assuming he's on a LAN or otherwise has a permanent connection).

One thing I suggested to him to try the msconfig command. I told him to disable thewin.ini and system.ini files to see what happens. Guess what, it doesn't happen when these two files are disabled. However, having said that, when he looks in both those files there isn't a line about AOL.
