I was thinking of a way for Anandtech to make some money, and perhaps someone has already brought this up...
There is a tremendous amount of purchasing power in the hot deals forum, and AT gets no kickback from when someone purchases a product at Amazon, Staples, Office Depot, etc. FW sticks their affiliate code into the link in their bounce.php script. Why not create something similiar, to finance forum upgrades and bandwidth? It seems like everyone wins, but perhaps I'm not thinking it through carefully enough.
I realize that it involves a fair amount of work, but I thought it was worth bringing up. I'd be interested in helping to develop something like this if the AT staff are too busy with other projects, let me know.
