autoexec.bat...help?

I downloaded some files that need to go into autoexec.bat, but I don't know how to put them there...pretty new to computers, absolutely fresh to DOS. I know how to type an address, like C:\WINDOWS\etc...but I don't know the exact wording to use so as not to kill my computer. Help?

at dos prompt, type. edit autoexec.bat
that will get you in and enter as you like , then save and exit

You could even just open autoexec.bat in notepad and edit it that way then save it and restart. If you're not comfortable with DOS.
