AutoCAD 2000i Text Editor oddity

I have a few users here who are experiencing difficulty with their Multiline Text Editors in AutoCAD 2000i. When using the Simplex.shx font, the text in the dialog box is unreadable - "washed out".

I'm new to this office, and this is the first time I've seen this problem. At my previous office, we ran ACAD2K on everything from P2 350s to P4 3GHz machines, and never once had this come up.

I've eliminated the video driver as the problem, and when the font is changed, the text appears as normal. I have multiple users with similar hardware and identical configurations, and the problem seems to be random among them. I tried to replace the Simplex.shx in a problem machine with the .shx from a good machine, to no avail.

Anyone? Thanks.

BTW - AutoDesk's advice

This did not work. I lowered the acceleration on the video card on one of the machines, and it made the text at least a little more legible, but I'm still unhappy, as now the video performance is compromised.

I use the Autodesk newsgroups. They're hosted by autodesk and you'll usually get an answer in a few hours.

I get that problem on my work PC once in a while but it's not a killer. You may also consider going into the properties box for your GSHEIDI10 display drivers and increase your tessellation level. You may also want to make sure that windows font smoothing is turned off, WinXP seems to turn this on sometimes and it really screws with the text quality of certain fonts.

This worked. HUGE thanks. I always set our XP boxes at my last office to the most base settings to run as efficiently as possible. Must be why I'd never seen this problem before.

Again - big thanks. And I'll check out the Autodesk newsgroups.
