Autobody shop may have lost my wheel lock key

Since a few months have already gone by it's going to be hard to pin this onto the shop but IIRC they were the last place to work on my car since. I haven't done anything lately myself that requires me taking off the wheels so I'm positive it wasn't me who lost it.

I'm going to contact the shop and see if they have it but what are my options if they don't? I still have the box that they came in. Can I contact the manufacturer and see if I can get a replacement key or am I stuck with finding a way to remove them?

You can try the manufacturer, otherwise you're gonna have to get creative. (drill it out, grind a slot in it, weld a hex nut to it, etc)

Just had to order replacements for my car, purchased it used but they didn't include the key. More than likely it was made by mcguard, just call them and explain the situation, do you have the id card that came with the lugs, you'll need it for the reorder, cost's about $20 or so shipped for the new key.

I paid the local Discount Tire $30 to get my keyed lugs off my car after losing the key and not knowing the manufacturer. We went through their catalog, but none of theirs matched. I actually only paid for the new lugs, so that was nice.

You may just want to swing by the dealer. Even if the autobody shop did end up with it it's probably long gone by now.

Cheapo deep well sockett and a mallet.

Wheel thives bypass lug locks all the time by pounding a smaller socket onto the lug and then just wrenching it off like any other lug-nut.

Sure your gonna spend a few bucks on cheapo deep well sockets but it is a do it yourself easy job. Any tire/brake store like Americas Tire can also do this as many people loose their lug keys.

They tried to do this for me at pep boys or some similar shop, they beat a socket onto the nut and tried to turn it... didn't work. My mechanic eventually took them off for me, but I forgot to ask him how he did it.

I called the manufacturer and signed something and had a replacement key sent to me, or possibly the dealer or tire shop. Can't remember which but contacting the manufacturer and giving the code on your wheel lock package should get you a new key.
