Auto Wars: Ferrari vs. Porsche vs. Lamborghini vs. Ford vs. Aston Martin vs. McLaren vs. BMW

In my latest issue of CAR I see a new battle shaping up--the battle to dethrone the 911 Turbo. For the longest time, it was the Ferrari F3XX series vs the Porsche 911 Turbo, and enthusiasts either went for Italian passion or German smarts, but Lamborghini's entry complicates things. These are the supercars that are slightly less insane than the ones we have on our desktops, and are a bit more practical. Now, add the upcoming Aston Martin AM V8, McLaren F3, Ford GT, and possibly even the BMW M6 and it's defnitely a new game. Red vs. Silver? Not anymore. I doubt one could go wrong with any car, but which one do you car nuts expect to be the victor and why? I know there's little information on some of the listed cars, but please, go ahead and speculate 🙂.

Yeah, it's like seeing Ferrari + Porsche + Lamborgini at a car show, then suddenly you see a Honda Civic Rolling up.

Agreed. I also think that Ford is gonna give those other cars a bit of a challenge....
It may be a Ford, but theres ALOT of history and knowledge there between Ford and its subsidiaries.

What is this McLaren F3 you speak of???

edit: search on google can only find hifi audio stuff and TAG Heuer watches?? Got any pics?

who cares about the ford gt..
..a ford is still a ford.

i'll just wait a couple of years while depreciation takes its toll on the GT, and grab one for $3000 or something 🙂

Day before yesterday was one of those days rare days you see some amazing cars in one day

Morning: Pulled up next to a Rolls Royce Phantom. (took some pics too!)
Afternoon: Passed a classic Ferrari Testarossa (sp?)
Evening: Passed the same black Porcshe 911 Turbo Twice! (major droolage)

All In Ann Arbor MI.

Edit: Oh right and a couple weeks ago I believe I saw 2! Ford GT's driving next to each other in Canton MI. Didnt recognize them at first, but thought it was a Ford GT and saw pics online later to confirm.

My Yugo pwn3s j00!

LoL

If a car costs more than 5 times your annual salary, does it matter if it can do .2 more G's on the skidpad?

The best car I've ever been in close proximity to is a Ferrari F40. It was at my dad's mechanic's lot (they are really good friends) and he let me sit in it and take a look.... 😀

Well, I'll toss out all the info I have on each car. This is in order of production-readiness:

Porsche 911 Turbo--Still the king, apparently, but losing ground. Available as ever.

Ferrari F360--Available and whooping ass, particularly as a roadster. Quite a bit more expensive than a 911, though.

Lamborghini Gallardo--Newcomer, grabbed both the Ferrari and the Porsche by the balls and squeezed real hard. My personal choice of the three, a blend of Audi too-smart-for-it's-own-goodness and Lamborghini insanity.

Ford GT--Yet another Ford attempt to reach back into the past to regain its former self, but looking good. On paper it's the fastest car mentioned so far. It'll probably be a typical American car though, doing one thing well but forgetting everything else. I hope that's not the case. Not in production yet.

BMW M6--A rumored 550hp V-10 for this thing. I'm not sure if it quite belongs in this company though, it'll probably be a cross between these cars and a luxury tourer like a Mercedes SL or CLK. The original M6 is one of the most beautiful cars ever made, and I still want one.

Aston Martin AM V8--Aston Martin is taking on Porsche, and the AM V8 is meant to battle the 911. In test car form at the moment. Jaguar F-type supposed to battle Boxster.

McLaren F3--Not even a publicly released concept drawing yet. Mercedes-Benz's McLaren is directly assaulting Ferrari with the F1 aimed at the Enzo, the F2 hunting the 456GT, and the F3 meant for the F360. This car is only a marketing term at the moment.
