auto tint removal...any advice?

Gonna remove my window tint to pass state inspection.
supposedly, spray some windex with ammonia on a trash bag and stick it to the window and let it heat up the glue....then just peel? is this right?
sounds too simple...
 
after almost three years, i got my tint removed cause it was attracting too much attention from cops (20% charcoal on a black car) and i have an inspection coming up.

i went to a tint shop and had it removed. the guy there literally took a corner and pulled the tint right off. he then sprayed an ammonia based product on the windows and removed the glue with a razor. he did everything in about an hour.
