Auto set sharing permissions in XP with NTFS.

I am sharing files on a XP Pro system with NTFS. I set up sharing with read access to my drives and some separate folders.

The problem is that I cannot access all folders and files of the drives, especially the system folders without a separate share like I could with FAT32.

In addition, if I add a new folder, Unless I share that folder or re share the main folder the new folders will not be accessible.

I just want default full read accessibility for any and all folders even if created after I shared originally.

And for security, I would like to disable access to some specific folder on my own if I need to.

I there any way to do this, as continuous re0sharing is problematic, especially if I forget to.

Thanks

This is set up by default for local admins. If you have admin access to the machine just browse to \\machinename\c$

I am not sure what you mean by admin privileges. Do you mean create accounts on every system identical to that of the system that I am logging into?
I would not want to do this as it is a waste of accounts and sometimes I might need to connects with someonelses system.

As far as going to the C share, it works fine. But I cannot access Program Files, Windows or Documents and Settings, which are basically system folders. All non system folders are accessible. But lets say I now create a new folder in C: called Shared. This folder will not be accessible. If I stop sharing the drive and then re-enable sharing on C then Shared is accessible.

And if I have another folder called Private in C: which is accessible. How can I disable network access only to the Private folder.

Hopefully this clears things up. I want to be able to access Program files, ect. and any new folders without having to do anything, but I also want to block the Private folder from being accessed or ever seen.

If this was on a FAT32 system I had no access issues. All sub-folders of a share were always accessible. I also added SP2 so maybe that is responsible partially.

Anyway, I think this has to be with NTFS permissions. Some hidden settings, as I don't see any sharing permissions for folders not specifically shared so I don't know how sharing permissions are set.

Thanks again.
