do most mechanics do electrical work in the car? or do i need to look for a specialist or something? i'm having an electrical problem, where i turn my headlights on, they pop up, and come on, but my dash lights and taillights don't come on... so i need to get it fixed asap, and really REALLY don't want to tear the dash apart looking for it....

Any decent mechanic should be able to handle electrical. For example, friend of mine is the electrical "expert" at the shop he works at.

that was my first thought, but when it first happened, i banged the dash (don't ask me how i thought of that) and they came back on for a little bit... and then each time i banged the dash, the lights stayed on less and less...

that's a good thing!

Its probably just a connector under the dash. Without need to tear apart, look under the dash. Start unplugging and plugging connectors back together. Just the act of doing this could solve the problem. Either it has developed some corrosion, or is just loose. Give it a shot!
