Auto fan control 9600's

Hey guys I'm looking to OC my PNY 9600GSO 768 SLI's (92sp) using Afterburner.

I was wondering if auto fan actually works as temps get higher? I remember seeing some issues with 88/9600 series cards and fan control but that was years ago.

Should I use an OC'd profile with a set high (say 80%) fan speed for gaming and then a default profile for the rest of the time or should I just set an overclock and keep the fan on auto to not have to worry about profiles?

My 9600GT ramps up fan speed with increased temps automatically.

I've never felt the need to manually set the speed, even when overclocking.

Yeah it looks like auto is ok... though even at stock GPU 1 is hitting 91C in furmark so I guess I won't be overclocking...
