Auto Detailers - wax on trim?

When waxing my truck the other day, I got a bit of wax on my fender flares. They're that black, kind of "rough" finish you see often on door mouldings, bumper mouldings, etc.

Any way to get it off? It's gone white where it was, of course.

If it didn't permanently discolor them, straight liquid dish washing soap and water with a soft brush should work. As a last resort you can go back over them with the same product and immediately follow with the soap and water if it doesn't work the first time.

Best bet in the future is to keep a rag on your shoulder and immediately wipe off any trim as it happens. I also immediately clear seams if that happens too....makes buffing easier.

if the wax doesn't come off with dish soap try using this from proper autocare. I mask off all the areas i don't want to get wax on now.

Mothers Back to Black should work. The label says it, "removes oxidation, ground in dirt, wax reisdue and surface flim."

Thanks. I am generally very careful and do whipe it off as soon as I see any go on the trim, but I must have missed this bit. I'll try the soap first.

Yup, I was just going to suggest this. Great product.

Get a pencil eraser: Erase the dried wax right out of the trim.

Dead serious, it works great.

I'm sure your trim is fine. I do professional detailing, and a few days isn't going to hurt anything. Like someone else said, go try a cloth and dishwashing soap. That should take it out. If not, someone else suggested Back to Black - which should definitely take it out if the dishwashing soap doesn't. You can get it at your local Pepboys, Autozone, or similar.

Good luck!

Back to black works great, or Meguiars new NXT Tech protectant cleans and shines your trim.

Actually, in my case the other days is about 2 months ago! :(

But, I'll still try it. Worst case scenario, it's a small streak so I'm not concerned, I just know its there is all.
