Authentic XP Cd won't boot, totally stumped.

Hi Guys! I'm trying to reinstall windows xp pro on my pc but the authentic xp cd won't boot after I tell bios to do so. I set the cdrom as first boot in bios and I made sure that the cd is clean and dust free. I even tried the cd on another computer and it worked. I tested to see if Windows Vista Release Canidate DVD would boot on the computer that I'm having the problem on and it did. I also changed the cable that connects my cdrom to mb with no improvements.
What else can I do? TIA

I would think that it would be a problem with your motherboard, if a new drive and cable don't do anything. What MB do you have?

I have an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum, I updated the driver for it but it didn't help. I did flash my cmos because I had forgotten my password. But I did it according to the manual so I can see why it would have caused a problem.

I had a Gateway Server that wouldn't boot from either CD or floppy. I even changed out both of them to known-good drives.

It turned out it was a mixed-up RAID controller card that refused to allow ANYTHING to boot until I cleared the controller's memory.

Try nlite.

nLite is a porgram (nliteos.com) that basically lets you integrate hotfixes/drivers and remove components by default from a winxp installation. Once it's done you can create a new bootable ISO (new version of nlite even has burning built in). There is also a pretty good community in the forum there.

THanks guys for the help, but i finally fixed the problem. Actually, I give up and replaced my raptor hdd with a slower maxtor, but it did fix the problem. Btw, I don't know really notice my pc being slower even though i took out the raptor, i don't know why i bought it in the first place.
