Australia's Web blacklist leaked Proving that child porn was just an excuse to get their foot in the door. The list is full of other sites like gambling, political, fetish, wikipedia entries, other blacklists, and even stupid stuff like goatse. It's about thought control and power.

Yup, pretty messed up stuff. You can find a few other country's censorship lists on Wikileaks, and invariably they end up blocking more than just child porn websites. Thailand's, for example, blocks a number of sites that are critical of the government. The potential for abuse is too great.

I wouldn't so much be against filtering if the block list was publicly available or there was some other form of oversight (I mean I still wouldn't like it, but this would at least make it somewhat palatable), but having some super secret list with absolutely no oversight... not a chance in hell I could support that.

Fortunately, it sounds like the Australian content filter has been stopped (for the time being, at least).

This list is on the torrents, if anyone really needs to see it. It includes a lot of very creative domain names. Thing I found the most interesting is how it includes Photobucket accounts and Youtube accounts. I find this interesting because a simple email or call to Photobucket and Youtube would have these accounts removed if they contained anything illegal, then there would be no need to filter them.

I was about to say you could just check out wikileaks, but the site's been overloaded. Everyone in Australia must be trying to see what they've been missing.

Don't worry, this would never happen in the US...

Sarcasm?

Don't worry OCGUY, you can trust in Obama!!!

;)

Trust the dems? Fienstien has already tried more than once to censor the web.

Feinstein is a whack-job. She's not representative of Democrats as a whole, just like Strom Thurmand was not a good representation of what Republicans are as a whole.
