Went to COTA for the V8 supercars this weekend. It was a lot better than I expected and the access to fans was absolutely amazing. Some great racing all weekend. I think I may start following the series now. Anyone else into the series?

I lived in Oz for a year. Watching such an amazing motor sport come out of such a comparatively small country only made me face-palm even harder over Nascar.

We have this same argument often, it seems. I love it when Sprint Cup and Nationwide do the road courses. Most Nascar fans don't.

The road course events have been some of Nascar's best racing, imo.

I think the Nascar road course events are great, but I can never seem to convince diehard Nascar fans.

The V8 Supercars are also great, and I would follow them if I could, but not much coverage here except for the occasional replay.

Do they run spec wheels/tires in that?
I've always enjoyed watching it the odd time when its on tv, really good racing! You're lucky to have seen it live.

Hey Guys,

I was just going back through the threads, and found this,

I really enjoyed your posts, really reminded me of back in the 70,s in Auss, where the passion for v8s was born, Bathurst, racing up and down the side of a mountain, It was alot more real then, in that they made thousands of cars just llike those monsters, I got the chance to own a few soon after, and I still have a few too, I don't think many people will get a chance to drive a v8 super car serious as a daily driver, haha,

Plus there was so much fun assoiciated with 3 other aspects, 1, Ford v/8 verses Holden/ chev v/8, 2, Ford Suspension ect, ect, verses Holden Susp ect, ect, and 3, was an American driver named Allan Moffit, what a legend, Bathurst would not have been as sensational without him, half the crowd behind the 6-8 Aussy drivers, and the other half behind the American, haha, Moffit was always in front and winning, he just broke down too often, to win everything, we all knew each race was going to be a chase, anyway, some of the best memories of my life,

Thanks Guys, it has been fun remembering,

Guys, I do not want to be a stalker, but I am hopeing some of you actually enjoy my flash back to the beginning of Aussy v8 racing,

I have some more comment to share, if anyone is interested, ??. please say so,

Ok, It appears I am not allowed to post attachments, and I am guessing thinking you-tube is an attachment,

So please you-tube,

2012 Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000

This is the v8 super cars doing a good hillclimb, alot of free fall back down the mountain and the famous " conrod straight ", please note, 1 year earlier, cars on the country roads, as apposed to inner city road racing as seen on this thread,

Please also note, Auss v8 super cars go racing in most cities, and out of Auss, but they all know Bathurst is the one they have to win,

oh, it is a long you-tube, so better get drinks and lunch ready,

Ok, been watching v8 super cars on TV ( Hidden Valley , Darwin, ) yesterday afternoon and been on TV most of today -yesterday, some great racing, last race just started and wacked 6 or so cars on the first bend, wrecked cars removed in a flash, race restarted, 1st lap I think , 6 cars enter pits nose to tail, all change tyres, and all leave pit lane nose to bumper, one of the 6 got the drop and moved up a few places somehow, ??. I did not see that, ??
Last laps of the race, Holden and Ford are duelling all the way to the finish, crowd going crazy, the Holden driven by a legend by the name of Craig Lowndes , who became a legend being the winning Ford driver for most of his career, ??. (Anyway, he only won cause a Ford pushed a Holden into the checked flag,) , Ford second, Holden Third a long way back,
Please search you-tube. Bathurst, 1969. Ford Falcon 351cu windsor,GTHO, phase 1, verses Holden Monaro GTS powered by the legendary Chev 350cu,
Only a short you-tube, pity really, but that race gave Australia a clear picture of the first real Muscle Car invasion, please note under the rules at that time, to race a car, thousands of similar cars had to made available to the public,
Also please you-tube funniest Bathurst race event, ??.
