Everyday another one of my friends move to Austin. It's mecca for the stoned youth. If my ass wasn't so firmly planted where I am (kids and school) I'd be there as well. Austin and Denver seem to be the hottest cities in the nation atm.

Never been to Austin but have vistited Devner before.

The amount of money I'd have to be offered to live there is so fantastically high as to defy belief. I have to go back sometime in the next month or two for a few days and am already dreading it.

I've heard the same thing. Austin is supposed to be college drama and slut central.

Montreal is closer, though. :p

Been to Austin once, supposed to be the live music capital of the US or something like that. Went out Saturday night to 6th St or 6th Ave and it was pretty decent. Plenty of bars and clubs most with no cover so you can bounce around alot. They close the street off but you can't walk outside with your drink.

I grew up around Austin. It has lost a lot of its quirky/funkyness that made it such a cool place to live. Now it is just a haven for rabid hippies and trendy fools that have more money than brains. The funkyness is still there but it has been pushed back and shunned instead of being in the limelight as it once was. :(

Austin is a fairly nifty place to be. I've been here since 2002. Coming from San Antonio = MAJOR improvement. The city has its issues, like a highway system designed for a third of the current population, but it's all good.

Is that because those cities have been last 2 locations of Real World?

Actually, these two cities have been hot BEFORE the real world. Use to live in Austin for a couple of years.. good times :) The music festival cool... the bike trails cool... the people, for the most part, cool....

If my parents weren't from chicago, I would still be living there :)

I travel a lot and have close friends in both Austin and Denver. The night life in either is a great time. Obviously it isn't a NYC/Chicago/LA style, but aside from bars closing at 2, they are both a lot of fun. Also, l can't imagine living in Denver being bad at all. Everyone I know from there is pretty mellow, and they have access to skiing/snowboarding. Denver doesn't quite have the problem with summer heat that Austin has though. Denver, with the exception of this winter, is one of the most temperate regions in the country. The winters and the summers are both extremely bearable.

Don't move to Austin! The traffic's horrible and the summers are unbearable, everyone stay where you are! :D
