Looking for some ideas to fix my issue im having with my TV.

I have an Auria 55" TV that we got from my roommates brother. The remote has crapped out over the last few weeks and doesnt work at all anymore. That wouldnt be a big deal at all, because the comcast remote is programmed to control the TV, but it cannot change the inputs on the TV.

Id hate to go and have to buy another remote, or even have to spend $$$ on a harmony remote, but no matter what code i use, when i hit the input button on the xfinity remote - it mutes my TV.

Cheaper universal remotes dont even list Auria supported, so i feel like itll just be throwing money out by trying those. Can i build something custom that will trigger the input command?

Sorry if this is a dumb post, but i have no other ideas besides buying an expensive harmony remote. I hate having to get up to change the input!

The cheapest harmony remote is like $30 and will work fine for your needs.

do all the harmony remotes have support for the same amount of TV's? Or do the more expensive ones have a larger database? How does that remote work as a replacement for the xfinity remote too? I would hate to just have to buy that to only use for changing the input. I cant help but think 30 bucks is a lot to spend just to gain one fuction that my current remote cant do. Any hacks to get the comcast one working?

There is only one database. You pay more for a remote that controls more devices (simplest difference). Also, the cheap one isn't "activity based" so its analogous to a normal remote where as the more expensive ones are designed to be macro based; press a "watch tv" button and everything in your system will turn on and the proper inputs will be selected, etc.

My wife was skeptical about spending the money on a harmony but now she loves it. It works great with the TV, receiver and HTPC.

And yes, the harmony will control the xfinity box too.
