Aureal vortex 2 in linux

Is there anyway to get an aureal vortex 2 soundcard to work in linux? (redhat 7.3) its a diamond monster sound mx 300**********

and BTW how do I install a driver in linux?

There is a driver that was released by aureal out there somewhere. I never had a whole lot of luck with it, although it "worked" using Mandrake. The instructions come with the driver.

Way back when I had an MX300 my card worked with the available drivers. There should be a script present that will compile the open source portions of the driver (parts of it are closed source) and setup everything (I think. you might have to edit a few files). Even when it works though the drivers aren't the best. Sad to say the best Linux sound card I've found is the SB Live (though at one time there were problems even with this if you were running an SMP system. I don't know if this has been fixed yet).
