Everyone I know says Ant and it drives me crazy....some even say Aint.
Of course I grew up saying Warsh instead of Wash.

LOL, never heard that. So is AUnt, ant more of a regional dialect, or just some personal preference.

I pronounce it like "ant". In fact that is the first pronunciation listed at Dictionary.com. Most people I know pronounce it like "ant" as well. Only rarely do I hear "aunt" (which is also acceptable, but not the perferred pronunciation at dictionary.com).

Remember the family guy episode where they're watching Wheel Of Fortune
and the puzzle is "My Dirty _unt" (or something like that)

'Ant'. It just doesn't seem natural to say 'ahhnt' in English. It sounds like it should be said by an uptight British person.

Also, anybody that I know who says 'ahhnt' only uses it to refer to their aunts and uncles in general. If you ask them about a specific one, they'll say 'ant' linda or something. That's what drives me crazy.

lol I was trying to think of a generic name for an aunt, but I didn't want to use one of my own. Surprisingly, it took me like 30 seconds to figure out a good woman name. :p
