Augh, Alltel just sucks!!

Not entirely sure why my mother went with Alltel in the first place. They're just CenturyTel with a new name and a new face as far as I'm concerned. Same pathetic worthless cell phone company. Well, the last 2 weeks I've been trying to reach her and on my end the phone will ring 5 times then drop to voicemail. She never hears it ring. Or if it does, it won't pick up for her. Also, voicemail's left don't show up for hours, even days later.

I have yet to have one single problem (save for one dropped call during a very, very busy time) with my Nextel phone ever, or my service. Blah, Alltel just flat out sucks. I hated them when they were CenturyTel, I still hate them now. My nextel can go nationwide without a problem, I can get notified about and recieve voicemail anywhere, and signal is never an issue. *fume* Man, when my mother is done with this one year on Alltel I'm gonna pay to have her switch over to Nextel. This is just rediculous.

Yes Alltel sucks - I've posted several rant threads here about my troubles with them. My city used to be Navix and had no problems. Then when Navix switched to Alltel all hell broke loose. The city even had Alltel investigated and as far as I know, Alltel was fined for their behavior.

nextel and sprint both suck. Signal problems galore with nextel and dropped calls like theres no tomorrow with sprint

Where you live at? We haven't had any issues down here. The only one I remember was a blown out tower and they fixed that in a matter of hours. Heck, the repair teams were already on the road 20 minutes after the tower went down. Total downtime was like 3 hours with limited interuption in service. Other than that, I don't remember any other issues with Nextel around here. I've even had good signal on them the entire time we were driving down to Wash, DC last year and while we were downtown. Heck, I even had full signal inside the Smithsonian!!

In the DC Metro area I get alot of dead signal places. In particular, theres this one street in Virginia, whenever I cross it, BAM my call drops. Signal seems to be ok. I've tried it with various phones and came to the conclusion that Nextel still has issues. on KSU's campus, no signal at all anywhere. With my AT&T, I get a full bar. In Fort Worth, dead zones in quite a few places. In St. Louis, MO, anywhere near my sister's place is a dead zone. Same with Sprint. My AT&T get's 3/4 bars in that area which is almost perfect.

I have alltel, haven't had any problems per se, and I really like the reception on the motorolla phones they use a lot better than the reception on my parents sprint pcs phones, however they are pretty stingy about roaming long distance etc, and I am moving in 9 days, so I will probably need a new cell carrier.
