I'm not sure how many people here read slashdot.org but they posted this yesterday and I didn't see any other posts about it. It's called AuDSL. DSL useing standard sound cards with what seems to be an easily built, what they term hybrid, or filter. The software is open source and the hardware can be built from standard sound cards, modems and radio shack parts. Please post here if you can think of some good applications of this technology. Could this some how be coupled with some dialer software to make a higher speed modem that can break that 56k barrier with out pissing off the fcc? Any way heres the Linkage

I don't want to crap on this or anything, but: A leased-line circuit goes through the Telco's switch and is monitored as such, with guarantees for uptime and throughput. Anything going over DSL cannot be viewed as totally reliable, since the Telco does not have to answer to the PUC if your DSL circuit goes down for an extended period of time.

hmmmm....well I do see what your saying. I guess what I'm wondering is, would there be any way to make this technology work over standard phone line instead of leased line by incorporateing a dialer of sorts, or could it be used for some sort of cheap wan/lan technology or something like that? I mean short of becomeing my own isp there has to be some other uses for it.
