Two things
1) I was hoping a little robot hand would pop out to put money in the machine
2) It's Volkswagen, so how long before an electrical fault has this mounting other vehicles in the car park like a horny lion.

I'll go ahead and throw in with the 'eff this useless technology' crowd. People keep getting worse and worse as driving. Do we really need to offer them more crutches?

Frankly I would be highly supportive of legislature that made automatic parking systems illegal. Hell, they could throw in brake assist, lane departure, and blind spot warning systems, too. 'LOL, I don't have to check my mirrors or pay attention; the car just does it for me!'

you must severely detest googles self driving car then.

couldn't this be closely compared to a chauffeur?

as valet drivers everywhere cried out in horror.

wake me up when my car can drop me off in front of my apartment building and then circle the neighborhood 4 times finding a space for itself.

...I'm not a fan. But I think it's a moot point; apples/oranges.

While these aids may have related tech, the concept of a self-driving car is very different from the car that still needs 90% of the driver's input, but will provide alerts or basic assistance to keep the car from wrecking in very limited conditions.

The latter stuff CAN be a good thing, but I fear its effects are more detrimental, as people will ignore the 'this is not a first line of defense' warnings and be encouraged to be lazy.

The parking stuff...I just don't even get it. At all. It's not safer. It's not easier. It's for people who simply lack a grade-school understanding of geometry and find themselves unable to manipulate two pedals and a steering wheel at low speeds. Get. Off. The. Road. Now.

I wholeheartedly agree with you.

What happens when the car runs over a dog, or hits some guy on a bike or something. Is the owner responsible or is Audi? Not an easy pick.

Until recently driver assists were non existent. Even today most cars on the road don't have this kind of technology. The lack of this technology has not made people better drivers. Crutches don't make people crippled, Cripples need those crutches. Unlike cripples, who mostly will not, and cannot attempt to walk without crutches, bad drivers WILL get behind the wheel and make you eat grill.

Would you rather face Audi's driver assist in the oncoming lane or a Kim Krashdashian look alike, or worse, think alike? Note: she WILL be applying makeup and texting while driving because unlike her male counterparts that she looks down her nose at she can multitask!

TLDR:
1. Crutches don't make people crippled.
2. Guns don't kill people.
3. American's bad health is caused by their bad behavior not bad healthcare. Oh wait that's not part of...oh well I'm leaving it in. Deal with it.
4. ...
