I have this... can't go wrong for the price. ESPECIALLY with the car kit. The player works great - my signal/adapter tape deck thingy was intermittent so I I just sliced off the old 2.5mm plug and resoldered on a new one - perfect. 40 anti-skip is pretty good. If I shake it in my hand pretty hard it'll start to skip but no problem running with it or in the car.

I love cheap electronics...

Well I just ordered one .. Had a $10 amazon gc from hp that expires
today. Came out to $15 shipped. On the specification page on
amazon it said that it played cd-r but not cd-rw. Not a bad deal!
If it doesn't work out in the car .. I'll just give it to the
kids .. heh!

Mine has played every burned cd I throw at it. Various brand - Kodak/Imation/PNY/Sony/Maxell / it even played my crappy Comp USA generics fine!

I emailed them about the batteries - apparently it uses 4 AA batteries and only lasts about 5-6 hours.
