That's a great price, maybe even a pricing error. But, alas, OOS in my area.

Good find, though, we've been using the FRS radios and it would be nice to have a base unit at the house, especially one with rechargeable batteries as this one listed.....

Will that AV basestation work with any FRS radios? Meaning, if I have a couple of Motorola's, will the basestation be able to talk to them?

Rats. Wish you could buy it on line. I got a set of Audiovox's high end radios last year for $29.88 (reg $150), and this box matches them perfectly. Great for campers...you leave the base at the camper and the rest of the family can go their separate ways. A neat feature is that you can effectively double your radio range if you have someone at the base as they can relay messages back and forth.

thanks i got the last 3 at my local crapusa! i was thinking about using them as a wireless intercom system for my house, but being a public band it probably is not a very good idea! but for the price i could not pass, worst case i got some x-mas 2002 presents!

Thanks for the post Cejay.

I saw these a week or so ago for $29.88 or something like that. Picked up the last one at the Tigard, OR store. Nice little toy and it comes with 4 AA NiMH batteries.

Anyone know if the Motorola Sprint GT will talk to FRS radios? Looking on their web site they share the same frequency for some channels ...

These Spirits do not use the same bandwidth that FRS ones do.

<< Spirit® Professional and XTN two-way radios operate on Private Land Mobile frequencies. Application is made on FCC Form 601 schedules D, H and Form 159 >>

<< Operates on 8 UHF business-exclusive frequencies >>

<< Requires FCC License >>

There are handhelds out there that operate on both frequencies, there was one here at HDs awhile back.

The T6400 is one of them that uses both sets of frequencies.

Yeah...wouldn't want people to be able to hear you say "Hey...can you come here?" 20 times a day :)

Seriously, how many personal conversations do you have over an intercom? I think that's a good idea.

If you're in Dallas, the CompUSA at 75/Park Ln. (not Park Blvd in Plano!) still had 4 left after I snagged up 2. It came with 4AA NiMH (1300) rechargeables batteries. Hope it'll work with my pair of Motorola 5200 I got free from the Michelin tires deal. If not, there's the weather radio and the batteries.

--- Sweet! It works fine with the Motorola 5200!!! Hot Dealio!!!

A couple stores not too far from me were showing the FRS1000 in stock as of Tuesday, but today Wednesday it doesn't even show up on the Compusa search.

Is the promo $9.88 over or what?

I hate to call stores asking about stock, but wasting a trip isn't in my plans either.
