How often do you travel for hours at a time by car (or bus or train)? If you do so with any regularity, a tri-mode is still a must, IMO. Digital-only is still too limiting if you want to have the phone available for any emergency that would arise.
If you don't travel, or only go places by plane, a digital only phone should keep you covered.
BTW, Nokia has a new color-screen phone coming out on Verizon--the 3589i. It's tri-mode, relatively inexpensive compared to the A'vox and LG, and should offer good RF performance (lately, Nokia has overcome thier past problems building a good CDMA phone) with typically good Nokia battery life. It's already out in some areas, so it should be out nationwide within the next couple weeks. It's worth a look if you like Nokia phones.
