Audiovox 8600 or LG VX6000 ?

We really have no purpose for a camera phone like the 6000, but if it's still the best you can get, we'll go for it. Price difference is about $20 cheaper for the Audiovox... opinions on this guy ? Howardforums are unreachable for me right now.

had a very similar thread to yours but no real input. My g/f bought the 8600 and is liking it a lot. We just took a trip from VA to central NY and she had reception everywhere, she loves the small size, and the color screen is pretty cool.

Also the vx6000 is only digital whereas the 8600 is tri-mode. usually doesn't matter with Verizon at least since their digital coverage is great but something to think about if you want an analog signal in places you can't get digital.

Thanks for that info... not much news on the 8600 out there, is there? 🙂

nope, I think the phone has only been out for a couple of weeks now so I didn't find any reviews for it when I searched.

How often do you travel for hours at a time by car (or bus or train)? If you do so with any regularity, a tri-mode is still a must, IMO. Digital-only is still too limiting if you want to have the phone available for any emergency that would arise.

If you don't travel, or only go places by plane, a digital only phone should keep you covered.

BTW, Nokia has a new color-screen phone coming out on Verizon--the 3589i. It's tri-mode, relatively inexpensive compared to the A'vox and LG, and should offer good RF performance (lately, Nokia has overcome thier past problems building a good CDMA phone) with typically good Nokia battery life. It's already out in some areas, so it should be out nationwide within the next couple weeks. It's worth a look if you like Nokia phones.

Nice to hear about the Nokia 3589i, but she needs a flip phone... so the top 2 contenders are the ones mentioned... or we can wait till supposedly early next year when the newer models come out.. is that gonna happen ?
