Audiotron + ethernet hard drive?

I'm looking for some way to have a Turtle Beach Audiotron play mp3s without having a computer on all the time. if I get one of those ethernet-connected hard drives (can't remember what they're called), can the Audiotron play mp3s off of it?

If the audiotron requires no special software on the host computer to stream the files, then I see no reason why an ethernet connected hard drive wouldn't work.

yeah, well that's a big part of my question. I don't know if audiotron requires special software.
does anybody know?

There's an extremely old review of the Audiotron at Tom's Hardware. Seems to indicate that you definitely need a PC for the setup process, but, if during the setup the software finds the network drive and sees it as a valid and accessible share, then the Audiotron will be able to access files on it. Why don't you email the Turtle Beach tech support folks directly? I am sure they will be more than happy to answer your questions.

Directly from the "What do I need?" page for Audiotron:
"While the AudioTron will work with other operating systems that support Windows File Sharing (such as Mac OS and Linux) Turtle Beach only provides support for the above operating systems." So, it seems that as long as the network drive uses windows file sharing protocols, you should be okay. I would still contact tech support at Turtle Beach, though, in case they can give a definite yes or no answer.
