Haven't been into this stuff in a long time but I just got a new tv (wega 27" FV300) and upgraded a dvd player (ns-315), so now I need the receive/speaker system. I was at goodguys and the guy showed me the Polk Audio RM7500. This is last years model and it comes with the 4 surrond sound speakers and center speaker. Pretty much the set except the sub. I guess these were retail for about $1600 with the sub and this years model (RM7600) is about $1700. At the Polk Audio website the sub costs $770. Of course these retail prices are way more than what most people would pay. The guy told me they have 2 sets of the RM7500 left and his price was $450 without the sub.

My question is is the system without the sub worth that much or is this a hot deal. Haven't been keeping up with electronic equipment for sometime so I am not sure if this is worth it.

Is Audio Reviewstill around? Check it out if it is. You can get lots of customer reviews and see what people are paying.

Just keep in mind that you are going to need to spend another 300-1000$ on a sub. Those 5 speakers are pretty worthless without the sub. Goodguys usually has middle of the road prices. Try Crutchfield They are a good place for price comparisons and have been getting higher end speakers for comparison.
