regarding Sony Vegas. Did you know that it's actually a V with a shadow, not with a W? At least that's how Sony intended it. I found it interesting...

Hmm... well, it's a work of art. You are not supposed to apply logic to these things. :)

I don't know about the shadow thing, but I do believe it's German, which is why it's pronounced Vega.

This thread should be really funny by 75 posts hehe. Wega, Vega with a shadow......who cares? You pronounce it "vega" like you'd say wagner as "vagner" :)

At first I called it Wega, too, but then I saw the commercials for it and they called it Vega. I call it Vega now, too.

DivineMartyr: It could be German, but Sony is a Japanese company, so why would they pronounce it in German?

I wonder why they didn't do something like this for their Vaio computers?

What do you mean? Look at the vaio logo, its a sine wave turning into IO representing analog to digital I guess. They are prouncing their logo......I think just using a real word is a step up.

VAIO is an acronym; I can't remember what it stands for, though.

<-- VAIO fan

SuperSlim Pro: yum!
Slim Top Table PC: * drools *

I was always under the impression it was pronounced with a "v" sound.

Copy and paste of a rant I posted previously.

For the people insisting it's 2 Vs overlaping, here's some evidence to the contrary:

1) http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/wega/ works, http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/vvega/ is a 404.

2) At http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/wega/products/kv36xbr400.html, the product description is: KV-36XBR400 36" FD Trinitron® Wega? Color Television

3) Search any of the online shops for Wega. Now search for VVega. Note the abundance of results for Wega, and the absense of results for VVega.

I think Sony, if anyone, would know how to correctly spell the name of their products.

The same arguments apply to those arguing it's just one V.

"The same arguments apply to those arguing it's just one V."

It might be spelled with a "w", but it's pronounced as "Vega". That is how they say it during the commercials for the TV.

Check out this search I performed on Google for "how is the sony wega pronounced?".

Check it out here.

All of them say "Vega"
