Hmmmm.....don't know. What's the "Xing engine problem" all about? I just like it because it's packed with features and is simple to use.

CDEX is a good program for ripping too... i dont know if it rips through the "sound card" or not.. but it always works really well for me

EAC (Exact Audio Copy), with the LAME plugin works the best for me.

I used to use AudioGrabber, but it didn't do a good enough job for me. It's able to use different codecs such as LAME and even Monkey's Audio. AudioCATALYST is a similar program that uses the crappy Xing mp3 codec.

I now use CDex (EAC doesn't work for me). It does a much better job and is easier to use to boot.
