I bought these speakers and are loving them, so now i got some money to buy a subwoofer for them. Do you have to purchase the ones for them specifically? Or can you get others? Are any better than the ones you can get with them?

Not really in-the-know when it comes to this stuff. :O

I believe the A5s just have line-level output, so you can use any powered subwoofer you want to.

$349 for their 8" sub seems steep.

Good to know, anything you would recommend? I listen to all types of music if that matters.

Were you hoping to get something less expensive than the Audioengine sub ($100-$200) or was the budget about right but you were not sure on value ($300-$500)?

SVS, HSU, and ELemental Designs are well regarded with good bang for the buck offerings for example.

Well something to go along with these speakers, I would like to spend "around" $200. I could go $300 if it is worth it you think.

I'm not audio-savvy. I got the A5 because recommended to me before, was a good recommendation :D
