My reading list is growing ever-longer, and my available time to read the damn things is growing ever-shorter.

Anyone ever do the audiobook thing in the car?

I listened to cell by stephen king a few months back. A few parts almost made me wreck (zombies flying, etc.).

I just realized how ironic that is...

i started listening to audible books in the car during my commute in and out of work and i find it infintely enjoyable. I typically get the audio versions of the books that i would like to read but probably wont get around to and save the good stuff so i can read it.

people give me sh!t for it but i dont care, my comute is infintely better from it and when i find a good story I dont dread driving into work or driving home. I would defintely reccomend it.

Audiobooks keep me sane on my commutes, especially when I'm stuck in traffic. I'm currently on book 2 of "a song of ice and fire" and find it enjoyable enough to sit in the driveway a couple minutes to finish up the chapter before i go inside.

if they can be sped up. i tried some from the library once for the car. drove me batsh*t crazy, they read so much slower than most people can, but i guess thats how it is when read out loud. still annoying. plus the voices were sometimes annoying, i don't hear such a voice in my head when i read after all.

When I was commuting 90 minutes each way audiobooks and talk radio kept me sane. Music is boring, repetitive, and easy to ignore. Audiobooks give you something to pay attention to, so they make the trip seem shorter.

So yeah, I highly recommend listening to audiobooks in the car. My local library has tons of them.
