More than 20 years. Fabulous. Eventually, the earpads need to be replaced.

I stuck velour earpads from Beyerdynamic DT-250's on my V6's, improved isolation and bass quality as well as comfort. If you like bright crisp airy sounding cans stick to Grados (no experience with Audio-Technica) but the V6's are nice for mids and bass and not overly so.

Headphones are very personal, not only on sound but also on fit. What I did was to buy the 3 cans I was considering from a store with an easy return policy and try them at home for a coupe of weeks. It is a little bit expensive paying for return shipping but it is better than spending $300 in something you don't really like. In my case I ended up with the shure-940, that most forum experts consider too bright.

Good luck

thanks. how is the sound quality for you and what do you use it for?

Same as you, music composition.

Unless you want to go nuts with so-called prostudio cans, which run $800 - $1,000 a set, you can't do better than these.
