Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB PreAmp Problem

The Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB turntable gets many good reviews (not stellar, but good).

As I understand it, the turntable's internal preamplifier cannot be de-selected, preventing the user from using a higher quality external preamplifier.

(1) Is this really the case?
(2) Is there any easy way around it?
also,
(3) Is the sound quality good when transferring music to a computer via USB

What are you planning to do? to get MP3 quality from LP's you have or FLAC format?

If for MP3's - who cares...
If you want FLAC, I wouldn't do it...people who do HQ Flac's out of LP, they use High end TT's with high end cartridges.

I wouldn't even bother with equipment you have, better to download flac's already made by people with high end of equipment...

It's not illegal, since you already have an LP, a physical piece of music you do want to download...
