Audio sometimes vanishes from Asus laptop during Youtube playback

Hi,
I possess a 10 month old ASUS X555LA i3-5005U 2.0GHz 6gb DDR3 laptop running Windows 10.
The laptop is generally quite good, but albeit slow..

The only major and unexpected problem I experience with this laptop is that sometimes during regular Youtube playback, my computer audio disappears.
It is not only that there is no sound coming from Youtube videos, I'm simply not able to play any audio on my computer, whether it will be stored movies or audio files or even default windows sounds in Windows settings.
In addition, it is worthy to note that the Youtube playback capabilities are quite puzzling. Besides the disappearance of the audio, the video cannot be resumed and a normal playback cannot be achieved, I can only see still images when moving left and right down the playback bar. Opening a new webpage does not fix the problem and the playback is still faulty.
When I go open the Tunein webpage for instance, I cannot even initiate the stream, even without the sound. Vimeo or any other streaming site act the same way.

The only thing that "fixes" the problem is when I restart the computer.

I have no clue as to what the problem can be. Why would watching Youtube videos causes the audio to disappear from my computer? More than that, why would the visual playback be affected as well?
I searched the web and could not find similar problems where the audio would simply disappear from all webpages or programs. It doesn't happen all the time but does happen quite a lot.

Any help would be appreciated.

The only updates that ASUS has on their website related to Windows 10 are BIOS updates. No audio/video drivers present. But I guess it doesn't hurt to try to update the BIOS.

I will try using another browser, so will switch back from Chrome to Microsoft Edge. Hard to believe that Chrome is causing the problem, but we'll see what happens.

Thanks.

That is interesting, because when I look at the model you listed, I see lots of things available:

Thank you for looking up and pointing this out.
I have made a mistake by initially mentioning that my laptop is the Asus X555LA, when in reality it is the ASUS X555L. This brings the questions whether the 2 models are interchangeable? I live in Canada and it is possible to have smore variation of model names. When I search for the Asus X555LA online, I get different specs than my laptop though:
Intel Core i3-5005U 6gb ramfor the X555LA, while my X555L possesses an
Intel Core i3-4010 8gb ram.

Nonetheless, is it safe to assume that the two models share the same drivers?
I guess I should give ASUS a call to find out, while I cannot even find the X555L model on their website.

Thanks.

I had the problem again and got fed up, so decided to call ASUS tech support number that was printed on the back of my laptop.
Surprisingly they answered right away. Initially, the support rep recommended me to restore my Chrome browser to its default settings. However, after I kept telling him that I find it weird that the audio gets turned off completely on my PC, he directed me to download the latest drivers.

So even though the sticker on my laptop says that my laptop's model is ASUS X555L, it is actually X555LA. This made it possible to download the Chipset and Audio Codec drivers while they are available for Windows 10 on ASUS's website.

As for now, I have yet to experience that problem :). The rep was confident that updating my drivers would solve the problem
My initial hunch was to download the drivers as well, however ASUS makes the process of locating the model name of the laptop quite non user-friendly.

Sounds good. After looking through the Asus website several times, I am not at all surprised that the drivers do work on your machine. I hope the person you spoke with sent a note over to the web team to update their links on that model. Hope it continues to work well for you.
