Went over to a store called Kromer Radio (in Toronto) to pick up a pair of Paradigm Monitor 7 speakers. Called them earlier and they told me the price was $730CDN. So i figured i'd be able to get them for around $700 after tax (15% in Canada). Went over there, and it turned out that the floor price is $770. Their best deal? $790 with tax! That's only 10% less than the floor price. Obviously, i didn't buy them. I know that next week i'll get them for $700 or so at another store. What a waste of time though, now i have to wait until next Wednesday! Bastards!

So you're going to get those eh?

If I wasn't going on a trip soon, I would sell you mine. (mint condition)

No point. Us Canucks get them for such a low price that i will be able to sell them on eBay, used, for almost as much as i paid for them.

<< What? I'm confused...why should you be getting them cheaper? >>

Because the fair price for these speakers is $700CDN after tax, if not less. At one point i was thinking $650 even, but that's pushing it.

Heh, I am a Canuck remember... I figured I could hook you up, seeing as you live in Toronto, and that's only an hours drive from me. :D

I would want about $500.00 for them. (keep in mind they are mint). I just have to find the speakers I want to buy... they're pretty hard to find.

What's 'fair' isn't really an issue though, I mean their normal price is 770, they already gave you a discount, I mean come on don't get greedy here, if you don't like a store's prices get it somewhere else, don't expect them to change it for you

What's fair is an issue. I would never pay what i feel is an unfair price for something. They gave me a discount, yes, but it is customary to give 15-20%, not 10%. Why shouldn't i be greedy? I work hard for my money and i'm not about to start giving it away. You're damn right i'm greedy. And why shouldn't i expect them to change the price for me? If they dropped it by even 50 bucks, i would buy the speakers. I would then come back in 3 months and spend another $2000 there and refer my friends there too. And yes, i don't like their prices, and i will get the speakers somewhere else tomorrow.

Heh, i don't really want to wait. I already bought the receiver and it's just sitting here, collecting dust :D

Maybe you just weren't bargaining right ;) I spent 1 hour doing so to lower my subwoofer's price about $65 dollars. hehe

Maybe, i don't have much experience in this department.

Anyway, i'm going to visit a store called Fairview HiFi tomorrow. I called them a few days back and they said they couldn't give me the floor price because of Paradigm's policy (yeah, it actually exists), but said no tax (so -15% already) and a bit more (i'm guessing 5-10%) when i come there. I got the prices from some other stores, and i'm expecting these guys to have a price of $750-775 floor. Do the math. :D I'll get them for $700-725 for sure.

I dunno I guess I don't know what kind of store that is, I work at Circuit City where price haggling isn't an option, thats our price, and there's nothing we can do for you unless a competitor is beating us.
